Up Close & Personal with Blair Sheard
Where did you grow up and did this influence your interest in physiotherapy?
I grew up in Dubai. I learnt to ride horses there and rode and ran a lot. I knew I had to do something that worked with helping active bodies. Where it be vet, medicine or something else health related.
How did you get into physio?
I decided that the biggest part of my life was sport and happy animals. I knew I wasn't going to be emotionally tough enough to be a vet. These thoughts helped me down the Physio track.
How long have you been treating?
I'm 5 years old now!
What is your favourite part of the body to help get over injury etc?
Yikes! I'm not to sure! Probably a neck. People are so dehabilitated with neck pain and treatment can go a long way.
Favourite part of the job?
Interaction with people. And not having to sit all day!
How do you like working at Range Health - eg holistic practice etc?
Range health is awesome. I have amazing relationships with the other practitioners and even down to do special relationships with the admin girls. It's so easy to help my patients by referring within the same building. I wouldn't have it any other way!
What are your other interests?
Horses, dogs, chooks, ducks and cattle. I think my motto in life is may your home be too small for all your friends! I am an animal Physio as well and I that is a huge interest of mine. I run and go to the gym a lot.
What do you love doing on weekends?
My horse and partner live out on a cattle farm. I spend my weekends on the farm milking cows, working cattle and praying for rain!
